Former Moelis MD joining Stifel

Former Moelis managing director Arash Nazhad is joining Stifel, two sources familiar with the situation told Infralogic.

Nazhad left Moelis earlier this year after less than two years at the firm. The boutique bank appointed him to co-head its newly formed Clean Technology Group in September 2023. He previously spent nine years at Citi, where he served as a managing director before departing the firm.

The sources did not say what Nazhad’s role will be at Stifel. Stifel declined to comment, and Nazhad did not respond to a request for comment.

Stifel’s Energy & Natural Resources team is co-headed by managing directors Ashton Clanfield and Callum Stewart, both in the firm’s London office. In the US, managing directors include Jim Georgiow in New York and Jerome Grisko in Houston, according to the firm’s website.

Nazhad has worked for roughly 20 years in the energy and clean technology sectors, according to his biography on the Moelis website. His experience includes M&A, IPOs, and debt and equity raises, working with public and private companies.

Before joining Citi, Nazhad spent six years at Statoil (now called Equinor).
