Former KPMG deals advisory director launches boutique consulting firm
- SKT Advisors takes an integrated view of sector coverage, focusing on renewables and related manufacturing
- Tikmani brings KPMG experience in M&A, capital raising, and insolvency resolution
- SKT Advisors targets fast-growing startups, facilitating access to venture capital and strategic partners
Saurabh Tikmani, formerly a director in KPMG’s deal advisory, special situations group, has started a boutique consulting firm focusing on energy, cleantech and industrials, he told Infralogic today.
The new firm, SKT Advisors, has an inclusive approach in terms of sector focus, he said, adding that investors are increasingly taking an integrated view of renewable energy development and related manufacturing requirements.
“Many of them invest in the supply chain, including solar modules, and we may see the same thing happening for batteries as the requirement for localization increases,” he said.
For a boutique firm like SKT, taking an integrated view is easier from a coverage perspective, Tikmani added, and allows him to position his services alongside those of established firms.
Tikmani worked at KPMG for more than seven years, where he was involved with several deals involving mergers and acquisitions, and capital raising across both conventional power and renewable energy.
He also led the insolvency and resolution process for the 1.9 GW Lanco Amarkantak Power plant, acquired by Adani Power in 2024 in a deal worth INR 41bn (about USD 500m at the time), said Tikmani.
Another area of opportunity today is the “fast growing startups segment, which is underserved”, he said.
“Startups are now getting attention from large corporate players so there are situations where one can get the startups the access they need to not just venture capital but also the strategic players,” he said.
