Partners Group hires Atlantic Pacific Capital partner for North Asia fundraising
Partners Group [SIX:PGHN] has recruited Vincent Ng, who previously led Asia Pacific origination and distribution at placement agent Atlantic Pacific Capital, as a managing director and co-head of Asia in its client solutions group.
Ng will initially focus on fundraising in North Asian markets across Partners Group’s five strategies – private equity, infrastructure, private credit, real estate, and royalties, according to a source familiar with the situation. He will work alongside Kevin Lu, the firm’s group chairman for Asia, who will concentrate on South Asia.
A spokesperson for Partners Group confirmed Ng’s appointment. Ng declined to comment.
Ng, who begins his new role this week, spent 17 years at Atlantic Pacific, rising from principal to partner. He has worked on over 90 global fundraising, including primary fund placements across alternatives, secondary advisory mandates, co-investments, and direct private placements. Prior to Atlantic Pacific, he worked at Arthur Anderson and Deloitte.
Ng will continue to be based in Hong Kong, where Partners Group recently opened an office, adding to an Asia presence that spans Singapore, Manila, Seoul, Shanghai, and Tokyo.
Henry Chui, the firm’s head of Asia Pacific private wealth, leads the new office, which is expected to house a 5-10-person team largely focused on distributing products aimed at private wealth clients, including evergreen funds. While Partners Group raises capital from traditional institutional sources, it was an early and aggressive advocate of the private wealth channel.
“Having boots on the ground in Hong Kong is important in providing local coverage to our distribution partners in Greater China and it complements our coverage across the rest of the region,” Chui told AVCJ in June, flagging strong local interest in private markets from individuals and smaller institutional players.
