Qorvo/Skyworks review clock suspended; SAMR clearance expected shortly

  • SAMR suspends clock as review approaches six-month
  • Unconditional clearance possible by month-end at earliest

China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) suspended its review clock on Skyworks’ proposed USD 10.5bn acquisition of Qorvo as of last week, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The suspension came as the case approached the end of SAMR’s statutory six-month review period, the source said. SAMR formally accepted the transaction for review in late March, as previously reported.

Despite the suspension, SAMR is expected to clear the transaction in the near term, the source said, adding that clearance could come as early as the end of the month. The deal is expected to be given the go ahead on an unconditional basis, the same source added.

On 10 September, Skyworks President and Chief Executive Officer Phil Brace said in an interview that the company is “very confident” it can close the transaction within the current calendar year.

Announced on 28 October 2025, the deal would combine two leading US-based manufacturers of radio frequency front-end (RFFE) semiconductor components.

Skyworks and Qorvo did not respond to requests for comment.
