Mexican government weighs taking on Pemex debt

The Mexican government is considering assuming the debt of Pemex, according to three sources familiar with the matter.

The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, the Secretariat of Energy, the Secretariat of Finance and the management of Pemex meet every two weeks to assess the financial and operational situation of the state-owned oil company, according to the first source familiar. The government is considering taking charge of the debt and this has been discussed at these meetings, this source said.
