M&A League Tables 2022: Financial Advisors

Mergermarket’s global M&A league tables 2022 for financial advisors saw Goldman Sachs and Deloitte share top billing. Goldman Sachs came first by deal value with USD 1.2 trillion in 2022, retaining their 2021 position. They were followed up by JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley, again repeating their 2021 rankings. In our league table by deal count Deloitte advanced from 3rd place to 1st with 704 deals, edging out PwC on 703 deals by the narrowest of margins.

In EMEA it was again Goldman Sachs who came top with USD 411 billion of deal value, while PwC was first for deal count with 509 deals. Those positions were repeated in APAC excluding Japan, with Goldman Sachs top by deal value with USD 150 billion of deal value, and PwC top by deal count with 176 deals

The Americas continued the theme with Goldman Sachs coming top by both deal value and deal count, with USD 877 billion of value spread across 278 deals.

All data is based on transactions over USD 5m and is based on the Mergermarket’s M&A deals database. Deals with undisclosed deal values are included where the target’s turnover exceeds USD 10m. Deals where the effective stake acquired is less than 30% will only be included if the value is greater than USD 100m.
