Longreach mandates UBS to assist in exit of APC Group

The Longreach Group has mandated UBS to assist with its potential exit from APC Group, a Hong Kong headquartered specialty chemical and process solution provider, said four sources familiar with the situation.

The Tokyo- and Hong Kong-based private equity firm has begun preparations for a sale process, all sources said.

APC Group, formerly known as Amazon Papyrus Chemicals, is projected to generate an EBITDA of around USD 30m-USD 35m in 2026, three of the sources said.

The asset is expected to be valued at a high single-digit to low-teen EBITDA multiple, two of the sources said.

Longreach acquired a majority stake in APC Group from Navis Capital Partners, founders and management in 2021, according to Longreach’s website, which noted the founders and management retained a significant minority interest. BDA Partners (financial) and Ashurst (legal) advised the sellers, while Moelis & Co (financial) and Allen & Overy (legal) assisted with the buyer, as per Mergermarket’report in 2021.

Established in 2000, APC Group provides specialty chemicals and process solutions to more than 430 customers in the pulp and paper, water treatment, viscose fibre, barrier coating and molded pulp industries across the Asia-Pacific and Middle East, according to its website.

Its product portfolio includes process aids, specialty additives, cleaning chemicals, biocides and water treatment solutions, supported by advanced dosing, monitoring and control technologies, as per the website.

With over 500 employees, the company operates production facilities in mainland China, India, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand, and warehouse and logistics center in India, Indonesia, mainland China, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan, according to the website.

Longreach and UBS declined to comment. APC didn’t respond to requests for comment.
