Joloda Hydraroll in talks for complementary and new-vertical acquisitions
Joloda Hydraroll, a UK-based material-handling and loading services provider, seeks acquisitions that complement its offering or enable entry into other verticals, co-owner Wouter Satijn told Mergermarket.
Management is in talks regarding opportunities to follow the company’s acquisition of Finland-based automated loading solutions provider Actiw in January, Satijn said. It is interested in businesses generating more than GBP 5m (EUR 5.8m) revenue, but a target’s growth potential is the main factor when evaluating acquisitions, he added.
BGF-backed Joloda is on course to generate more than GBP 50m in revenue this year, he said. It has achieved double-digit percentage growth every year since CEO Michele Dematteis and Satijn – who is also Joloda’s sales director – took over the business in April 2017, he said.
The company is looking at targets that complement its existing operations, which include both manual and automated loading services, he said. Buying a transportation equipment company focused on the warehouse logistics space is one example of the type of deal that would enable Joloda to enter a new specific industry, he said.
Joloda, which operates in a 34-country network, is interested in both UK and international transactions, Satijn said, adding that only 15% of its total sales originate at home. Bringing in a local firm that expands Joloda’s offering would be a win for both parties, as it would provide a cross-selling platform to the bidder while giving the target access to a global customer pool, he added.
The company will find targets itself, using the management team’s industry relationships, he said. Deal due diligence will be handled in conjunction with BGF, he added.
The Actiw transaction complements Joloda’s offering, bringing it unique technology that enables the automatic loading of any trailer and container and strengthens Joloda’s position as a one-stop shop for any trailer or container loading/unloading solution, the deal press release notes.
While deal details weren’t given, Actiw’s LinkedIn profile shows that it has between 11 and 50 staff. Following the deal, Satijn told this news service that the firm’s total staff numbers are just less than 250.
Headquartered in Liverpool, Joloda designs, manufactures, and installs trailer/container loading and unloading solutions. Satijn said there are no plans to break the relationship between his company and BGF, stating the growth journey between the two will continue.
