Help at Home launches sale process via Jefferies and Centerview

Help at Home, a private equity-backed provider of personal in-home and community-based care, recently kicked off a sale process alongside Jefferies and Centerview Partners, according to three sources familiar with the matter.

Vistria Group and Centerbridge Partners were considering a sale of the Chicago-based provider and working with unnamed advisors late last year to solicit interest, with a formal process possible in 2024, according to a December 2023 Bloomberg report. That report stated a Help at Home deal could be valued at USD 3bn or more.

The company generates EBITDA in the USD 225m to USD 250m range, two of the sources said.

The three sources noted that Help at Home launched a limited process in the fall but paused it later in the year due to lukewarm interest. It reignited the process in recent weeks, with materials sent to interested buyers, two of the sources noted.

Another source said the company may also be considering an initial public offering.

As of 30 September 2023, Help at Home operated more than 180 branch locations across 11 states, with more than 68,000 clients and 54,000 caregivers, according to the company. Founded in 1975, it claims to be the largest provider of personal home care services in the US.

Help at Home, Vistria, and Centerview did not respond to requests for comment. Centerbridge and Jefferies declined to comment.
