Macquarie MD to leave by year end

Deep Gupta, a managing director at Macquarie Asset Management, is set to leave the firm by the end of the year, two sources told Infralogic.

They did not disclose his plans following his exit.

Prateek Jhawar – managing director and head of real assets and infrastructure at Mumbai-based financial advisory firm Avendus Capital – is set to join as the head of Macquarie’s infrastructure operations in India in January, Infralogic reported yesterday.

It is not clear whether Abhishek Poddar, also a managing director and currently India country head at Macquarie, will continue in his role.

Gupta has been with Macquarie since February 2008, as per his LinkedIn profile, and Poddar since October 2018.

Jhawar has been with Avendus since 2008 and has more than 21 years of experience in investment banking and corporate finance, specialising in private equity fundraising, and mergers and acquisitions in sectors including infrastructure, power, logistics, and real estate.

Prior to Avendus, he worked with ICICI Bank, Tata Power, and Citibank in various roles in corporate finance and investment banking.

A spokesperson for Macquarie declined to comment.
