Venezuela creditors eye OFAC license to negotiate with Maduro government

Republic of Venezuela creditors are considering applying for a license with the US Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to engage in negotiations with President Nicolas Maduro regarding the country’s debt, according to two sources familiar with the matter. At the moment, the US government only recognizes the 2015 National Assembly as the country’s legitimate government.
